The Macomb Area Conference girls soccer teams enjoyed another solid season - one that ended with a team playing in the Division 1 state final for the second straight season. Utica Eisenhower finished as the D-1 runner-up, as Grosse Pointe North did last year. North and St. Clair Shores Lakeview each won district titles but fell in the regional semifinals. The MAC awarded All-Conference honors to its top players, as well as naming Most Valuable Players and Coaches of the Year in each division. All names were submitted by coaches and compiled on a season-ending report.
Several local athletes garnered All-State honors as well, which are also listed below. The state's coaches association selects All-State honorees. For the complete lists and more information, visit www.mihisoccer. org.
Red Division Clinton Township Chippewa Valley won the Red Division title with a 9-1 record. Utica Eisenhower finished second at 8-1-1, followed by Grosse Pointe South (2-5-3), Utica Ford II (2-6-2), Grosse Pointe North (1-4-5) and Utica Stevenson (1-6-3).
Chippewa Valley sophomore Diana "Didi" Dedvukaj won the MVP, and Chippewa Valley's Gerry Haggarty took Coach of the Year honors.
All-Conference selections are Dedvukaj, seniors Sam Zerilli, Daniela Dedvukaj and Mackenzie Hickner, and freshman Sophie Maccagnone, Chippewa Valley; seniors Alyssa Telang, Stefana Ciraulo and Allie Misner, and sophomore Megan Marsack, Eisenhower; seniors Emma Brush and Meryl Ethridge, and sophomore Chelsea MacGriff, Grosse Pointe South; junior Allison Viera, and sophomores Taylor Niewoit and Leanne Boehm, Utica Ford II; seniors Olivia Stander and Holly Spencer, Grosse Pointe North; and senior Jamie Monterosso, Utica Stevenson.
Telang and Stander were Dream Team and Division 1 All-State firstteam selections. Didi Dedvukaj, Marsack, Ciraulo and Niewoit were named to the D-1 All-State second team, while Daniella Dedvukaj and Eisenhower senior Becky Lipinski, junior Alyssa Tomassi and sophomore Aubrey Sudomier were D-1 All-State honorable-mention selections.
White Division Fraser High and Macomb L'Anse Creuse North are co-champions of the White Division at 8-2-2. St. Clair Shores Lakeview finished third at 7-3-2, followed by Sterling Heights High and Warren Cousino - which tied for fourth at 4-7-1.
Utica High (4-8) took sixth and Romeo High (3-9) rounded out the group.
L'Anse Creuse North sophomore Angela Vultaggio won the MVP; L'Anse Creuse North's Scott Boice is the Coach of the Year.
All-Conference selections are Vultaggio, seniors Jaclynn Kutzura and Madison Hartwig, and sophomore Stephanie Garland, L'Anse Creuse North; seniors Nicole DeLuca, Liz Cancel, Becka McHenry and Kelsey Irwin, and junior Kalaway Voss, Fraser; seniors Mary Leone, Katie Gilin and Erica Couvreur, Lakeview; junior Amanda Ferrick, sophomore Amber Bondy and freshman Jessica Behnke, Cousino; senior Lauryn Dostilio, and sophomores Sam Hilliard and Alex Kluz, Sterling Heights; junior Becky Berels and sophomore Rachel Chaney, Utica; and sophomore Erika Madden, Romeo.
DeLuca, Vultaggio and Chaney are also D-1 All-State honorablemention selections. Leone is a D-2 All-State second-team honoree; Gilin made the D-2 All-State third team'and Couvreur and senior Stephanie Plotzke are D-2 All-State honorablemention selections. Blue Division Madison Heights Lamphere and Fair Haven Anchor Bay tied for first place at 9-2-1. Macomb Dakota was third at 6-4-2, followed by Harrison Township L'Anse Creuse (5-4-2), Port Huron High (4-7-1), St. Clair Shores Lake Shore (4-7-0) and Port Huron Northern (0-11-1).
Anchor Bay freshman Daniella Bruce is the league's MVP, while Anchor Bay's Kevin Grammens is the Coach of the Year.
All-Conference selections are Bruce, junior Angela DiCristofaro, sophomore Jenna Taylor, and freshmen Christy Burko and Amanda Shovan, Anchor Bay; junior Jenna Stoewsand, and sophomores Katlyn Krysiak, Cara Harm and Juanita Manriques, Lamphere; senior Sarah DiStefano, junior Leanne LaPash and sophomore Rachel Doptis, Dakota; senior Danielle Goszczynski, junior Alanna Chambry and sophomore Kelsey Castiglioni, L'Anse Creuse; senior Katrina Oberski and sophomore Shelby Conard, Port Huron; junior Ashley Baker, Lake Shore; and Georgia Jones, Port Huron Northern.
Krysiak was named to the Division 3 All-State third team, while Stoewsand was a D-3 All-State honorable-mention selection.
Gold Division St. Clair High won the Gold Division title with a 9-0-3 record.
Warren Mott took second at 6-3-3, followed by Clawson High (6-4-2), St. Clair Shores South Lake (5-4-3), Roseville High and Warren Woods Tower tied for fifth at 4-6-2, and Eastpointe East Detroit rounded things out at 0-11-1.
St. Clair senior Laura Monticel- lo won the MVP, while St. Clair's Dave Fry is the Coach of the Year.
All-Conference selections are Monticello, seniors Alicia Fowler and Allison Handlon, sophomores Bonitz Hazel and Samantha Schmitz, St.
Clair; seniors Jenny Grobbel, Angela Poltorak, Janina Velasco and Alyssa Ezyk, Mott; seniors Shannon Moorehouse and Monica Francis, and sophomore Emily Banules, Clawson; seniors Kelsey Demsky and Kristin Kamlay, and junior Sarah Schnell; South Lake; juniors Sarah Pitrago and Carlee Peplinski, Roseville; and junior Emily Klinefelt, East Detroit.
Moorehouse was named to the Division 3 All-State second team.
Silver Division Marine City won the Silver Division title with a 12-0-0 record.
Center Line High was second at 10-2-0, followed by Marysville High (8-4-0), Warren Fitzgerald and Madison Heights Madison tied for fourth at 4-7-1, New Haven High (3-9-0) and Mount Clemens High (0-12-0).
Marine City senior Shelby Fordt is the league's MVP, and Marine City's Dave Frendt Colin Quinn is the Coach of the Year.
All-Conference selections are Fordt, senior Whitney Johns, juniors Allyson Ingles and Nicole Noble, and sophomores Kaitlyn Vigna, Marine City; seniors Jessica Brown and Jackie Burns, junior Shayna Barclay and sophomore Jenna Brown, Center Line; seniors Shelby Vollmer, Courtney Mortimer and Liz Ciaramella, and freshman Andrea Curtiss, Marysville; seniors Sandy Crosby and Katelyn Sanders, and junior Stephanie Pilarski, Fitzgerald; senior Shelby Janney and junior Amanda Smith, Madison; senior Emily Czarnecki and sophomore Destiny Little, New Haven; and junior Sarah Tinkler, Mount Clemens.
